Would You Eat My Special Beef Chops with Onion and Mushroom Gravy and mashed potatos
Ingredients:
For the Beef Chops:
4 beef chops (bone-in or boneless)
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons olive oil
For the Onion and Mushroom Gravy:
1 large onion, thinly sliced
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dried thyme
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup heavy cream (optional)
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Directions:
Step 1: Season and Cook the Beef Chops
Season the beef chops generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the beef chops to the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Remove the beef chops from the skillet and set aside.
Step 2: Prepare the Onion and Mushroom Gravy
In the same skillet, add the unsalted butter and melt over medium heat.
Add the sliced onion and cook until they are soft and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for another 5-7 minutes, until they are browned and tender.
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
Step 3: Make the Gravy
Sprinkle the all-purpose flour over the onions and mushrooms, stirring to coat.
Gradually add the beef broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
Add the Worcestershire sauce and dried thyme. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
If using, stir in the heavy cream and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until well combined.
Step 4: Combine and Serve
Return the beef chops to the skillet, nestling them into the onion and mushroom gravy.
Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat the beef chops through and allow the flavors to meld.
Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
Step 5: Serve
Serve the beef chops hot, topped with the onion and mushroom gravy.
Enjoy!
